During the process of securing success for our second grade buddies, we took many steps to be where we are today. Considering that our friends over at Oakland are struggling, we had a few fun plans. We decided as a unanimous body that we wanted to do a book drive, a Go Fund Me site, and some book bags. Even though we all wish that with a blink of an eye all of our issues would go away, we cannot control all we that we wish to. So with a few weeks of planning, we were ready to take action. To start, we wrote our proposals, to prove that we were serious about what came next. Our visions become realities as we use our intellect and solved the issue our world calls money. Our lovely teacher, Ms. Rogstad, gave us items and their prices so we could figure out our goal. With the book bags put into count, we had to calculate the bus fee. The grand total turned out to be 318.69. Considering that we wanted a even and full amount, we rounded up to 350.00 dollars. Upon our return for the weekend, we had already exceeded our goal. This continued after we raised the goal to 500, 800, and finally 1,000 dollars. With our end date drawing near, we had reached exactly 1,000 dollars. Go Fund Me, being the website it is, took away, 8% of our amount. They left us with, 920 dollars, which is still a grand amount. We ordered what needed for our bags and awaited their arrival. We decided to get the school involved, so we got the word out by class visits, school wide announcements, and friday folder stuffers. Considering that it was about to be the holiday season, some of our class bought presents, reading related presents. Starting on January sixth, our book drive commenced. On the first day, we had a huge shipment of books. As the first week concluded, we had about 850 books. We were waiting for the final days of the drive, and we still had so much to do. Starting with, thank you notes, bookmarks, and a brochure. We also made a survey and as you might know, a Kahoot.it quiz. As our class tested our sites, we found that even our class we touched by this project. As we all looked forward to our meet and greet with our buddies on January 22, we were also busy with stuffing book bags. As most of attention obviously went to that, some of us were finalizing our speeches and our presentation as well. On the last day of our drive, we have over 1,200 books. During our visit, our buddies were over the moon happy. We decorated, read books, played games, ate lunch, and played at recess. We were also overjoyed to finally see our buddies. We interviewed the other Ms. Rogstad and she answered perfectly. We also presented a check to both the library and the main classroom. We all were sad to be leaving and they were sad that we had to go. We gave hugs, said goodbye, and left to head back to Coronado. Knowing that they would be visiting soon, we had huge smiles spreading across our faces. In the end, we are proud of the impact we have made.
